The office hasn't returned any of my calls, and the lights have been out- No one's been seen leaving or exiting the paper in months. I can't get to my desk, so I'm using the company's remote system to post this article.

Over time, I'll try to explain what I can about my absence and everything that you've all missed over the pass few months, but until then, here's current events.

Also, no, I didn't pay off Alice_Rabbit. Pretty sure Mr. Donovan would be furious.

Not that he wouldn't be furious with this article being posted without his approval, but eh, he's not here right now.

Cathedral District Heavily Damaged From Surprise Tungsten Rod Attack!

Earlier yesterday evening, a firefight between several suspects including a group of organized crime members, corporate security, and some members of law enforcement escalated in an incredible way when twenty foot long tungsten rods, fired from an orbital space station owned by the transportation conglomerate K-TRAN (KTRAN), collided with the Cathedral - 2 District.

The kinetic weapons devastated the district, destroying several residential blocks in addition to collapsing roads and drilling deep past the city's sewer network and power grid. Emergency services including the Glitch City Police Department (GCPD) and White Knight Valkyrie units are responding to the disaster and are still recovering bodies of the victims at this writing.

However, the damage could have been worse, a source with Glitch City Public Works said.

"Thankfully, the city's built in anti-earthquake road plates were able to eat some of the damage, event though they weren't made for that," Starsky Hutch, an engineer with GCPW, said, "So like, the shortwaves could've destroyed more blocks than it did... not that it didn't destroy a lot of blocks, but it could'a been worse," Mr. Hutch said.

Law enforcement officials are still unsure as to how many times the orbital weapon was fired, although estimates are set at at least four times, a source within the GCPD said, under the condition of anonymity. "Thank god there weren't more," He said.

Tungsten rods, as their name implies, are long, dense tubes or rods of wrought tungsten alloy that, when fired downward at high speeds, release a large amount of kinetic energy- estimated to be at minimum of eleven tons of TNT, per rod. They are typically built as anti-emplacement and fortified base weapons, although it is currently unknown why a "transportation conglomerate" would own such a weapon.

VeriaTech, Vita-Life to Join Class Action Lawsuit.

Although these corporations have traditionally butted heads in the past in all matters concerning both business and corporate trade secrets, two of the largest healthcare providers in Glitch City, VeriaTech (VTECH) and Vita-Life (VLIFE) have joined power corporation Jinterprises (JINT) in filing a class action lawsuit against transportation conglomerate K-TRAN following the "excessive use of an orbital base station's low-orbit weapons system to cause systematic damage to infrastructure and loss of life."

"This is absolutely ridiculous," said a representative of VeriaTech, who declined to be named, "Corporate security is one thing, and one that VeriaTech will defend the right to so long as we maintain a presence on this planet, but our neighbors should remain conscious of each other," The representative said over the phone.

This tragedy echoes a similar event that occurred last year, when an experimental low-orbit ion weapon owned by the technology leader Blue Moon Arms (BMA) was discharged twice from space, one of which was "a controlled test in an abandoned area of the Industrial District," said a representative of Blue Moon Arms.

However, the weapon malfunctioned, leading to a blast that destroyed not just the intended target, but much of the surrounding infrastructure owned by various Glitch City steel and materials manufacturing groups, the representative said. The corporation suffered incredible public backlash in response, although the weapon remained in operation well into the Midnight District disaster months later, during which the weapon was activated again.

During that event, the weapon's attack resulted in the destruction of an enormous, thought-to-be radioactive tree which appeared in the Midnight District. Shortly after, an unknown military group attempted to seize the orbital weapon, leading to a short space battle which peppered the city in raining scrap metal and fallen vehicles for weeks afterward. During the battle, the orbital weapons platform was destroyed: The final resting place of the platform is the Westport Bay, which has reportedly been left untouched by the Glitch City Coast Guard (GCCG). The GCCG has declined to comment.
